I love the presentation and overall "Sony aesthetic" this app has going for it—but that's where the good news ends. For reasons unknown, the app just... Loses? All of my music at seemingly random intervals—and not all of them, all at once or even the same time. It seems to favour albums that don't have album art—but only sometimes. It's become more trouble than its worth to re-add the music to my devices on a weekly basis (which seems to remedy the problem for varying periods).

If I wasn't so used to 14 years of this app, I'd use a better one. The new update genuinely makes you feel poor by shrinking your album covers and displaying unnecessary information. It wasn't perfect before, (no playlist sorting settings/ was to organise songs by year) but at least I got fullscreen artwork

I was disappointed when a few years ago, the ability to play music across the LAN (from another computer or NAS) was removed. The latest version has now converted all my Hi-Res files (DSD and 24/96, the latter of which I could play in full quality via LDAC to my WH-1000XM3) to 256 Kbps MP3! Without my consent! What is the point of this? What is the point of Xperia having a wired headphone jack and engineering resource put into audio quality, only for the default app to destroy my Hi-Res files?
